Case Study 1: Frost Protection
Commercial and Residential Properties
During this project we worked alongside a thermal insulation contractor to deliver frost protection trace heating on a roof-top cold water service.
We prepared the design proposal, quote and submitted RAMS, liaising with both the mechanical project engineer and thermal insulation project manager. The specification for this project included nVent RAYCHEM’s XL Trace self regulating heat trace cabling and this was expertly fitted it to the exposed cold water feed pipework on the roof-top Ai Source Heat Pumps (ASHP). This ensures that all exposed pipework is not at risk of freezing in colder temperatures as the self-regulating cable will automatically heat when the temperature reaches the agreed minimum levels.
It was the ideal choice for this application as it’s specifically for use within commercial and residential buildings for a safe and reliable heating solution.

Case Study 2: Roof and Gutter Heating
Custom-designed roof de-icing system for Lead roof
We were commissioned to provide a roof-top deicing system for a prestigious building in Oxford as a result of a roof refurbishment. We coordinated with the main contractor and architect and specified the nVent Raychem self-monitoring IceStop system.
This self-regulating product automatically heats the roof when required to prevent any potentially damaging build up of snow or ice. This means that no matter the weather, the roof will drain effectively and downpipes will continue to function.
For this brief, a key requirement was to make it as aesthetically pleasing and to keep in with the historical nature of the building. Our solution was to source bespoke lead tags to secure all cabling and hardware for a discreet installation.
Consistent performance was ensured by using our specialist design software which helps us to calculate the exact lengths and positioning of heat trace cabling required. After installation, full testing and commissioning were completed so it’s ready to be called into action when the temperature reaches lower levels.

Case Study 3: Industrial – Temperature Maintenance
Storage tanks for hazardous products
Working with a leading tank fabrication plant, we provided insulated Trace Heating cabling to large tanks planned to be used by a chemicals manufacturer in the storage of solvents.
Our team specified ATEX compliant products due to the nature of the storage. nVent Raychem’s Trace Heating cabling was fitted around the entire circumference of the tank and insulated to maintain the constant temperature of the liquids being held.
We offered an all encompassing service including the specification, installation and commissioning at the fabricators. This meant that when they were delivered to their new home, they were fully ready to be used straight away, with no downtime and increased efficiency right from the very start.

Case Study 4: Industrial – Frost Protection
ATEX Zoned Trace Heating
We worked with an Agrochemical Processing facility after upgrades were made to their Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP) to provide a condition survey on existing Trace Heating systems. As well as this vital maintenance check which included all heat trace cabling and associated control panels, we were commissioned to provide a completely new circuit to protect the main water supply to the building from frost and freezing weather conditions. This critical process was required to be maintained throughout the year as it is used to feed the safety showers on the CHP plant.
Standard XL Trace self regulating cables (10XL2-ZH) were used within safe areas of the building and we specified nVent RAYCHEM ATEX certified trace heating cabling (3BTV2-CT) and associated ATEX certified components for ATEX zoned locations.
Our CompEX qualified engineers completed the comprehensive system design and the installation ensures all critical services are fully protected against frost and freezing, guaranteeing a safe working environment and reliability of essential utilities.
